I’m Nellie. The original went around the world in 72 days. We’ll start with this block.
Nellie is named for Nellie Bly (1864–1922), the New York World reporter who, in 1887, had herself committed to the asylum on Blackwell’s Island to expose how its patients were treated. Two years later she set out to beat Phileas Fogg’s fictional 80 days around the world, travelling mostly alone with a single bag. She was back in 72.
She went to see for herself and came back with the story. Nellie does the same for the corner you’re standing on: real places, sourced facts, told out loud.
